     Ingersoll Day Townsend was born on 28 May 1895, in New York City, NY.1 In May 1918 Ingersoll attended Williams College He was a member of the class of 1919 until he went to Third Officers training camp at Camp Devens.2 Engagement announced between Ingersoll and Sarah Swift Carter, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Franklin J Carter of Williamstown.2 He married Sarah Swift Carter circa September 1918.3,4 Ingersoll and Sarah were divorced.3 Ingersoll Day Townsend died on 5 February 1982 in Santa Barbara, CA, at age 86.5
