     John Dwight was born c 1601, in England.1 John Dwight was of Woolverstone, Suffolk, England.1 He married Mrs Hannah (Unknown) Dwight s 1623.2 He was either a woolcomber in England or the son of one. John arrived in 1634 or early 1635. He first settled in Watertown. He moved shortly to Dedham which he settled. In 1636 he signed the covenant or Constitution of Dedham. The first town meeting 1 Sep 1635. He was a farmer in Dedham (calls himself a yoeman in his will) and the second wealthiest man in Dedham (second highest assessed in taxes). Selectman for 16 years from 1639 to 1655. John was admitted freeman on 2 May 1638 in Watertown, Massachusetts. His wife Hannah died on 5 Sep 1656 in Dedham, Massachusetts, leaving him a widower. John Dwight married Mrs Elizabeth (Unknown) Thatcher on Sunday, 20 Jan 1657/58 in Dedham, Massachusetts.3 John Dwight died on 24 Jan 1659/60 in Dedham, Massachusetts. He left a will dated 16 Jun 1658 in Dedham, Massachusetts. In addition to his homestall, he owned 30 acres of dividend land in Watertown.
