John Bloomer was born in 1789.1 Family tradition says that John left Bennington VT about 1809 and settled in Chautauqua.1 He married Rhoda Darrow, daughter of George Darrow and Barbara Fletcher, in 1813 in Cherry Valley, Otsego, NY.1 John Bloomer died on 16 December 1852 in Parkersburg, West Virginia. His death was recorded in Fredonia Censor Chautauqua, NY.1 The cause of his death was yellow fever.1
