Elizabeth Brewer was born circa 1826, in NH.1 She married Richard Silas Marden circa 1859.1 Elizabeth Brewer died on 13 November 1889 in Ellsworth, Pierce County, Iowa.1 The following notice was in the newspaper:. River Falls Journal, Nov. 21, 1889
Mrs. R. S. Marden died last Thursday, it is said, of poison.
Richard Marden's family were recently poisoned by eating corn meal. They all recovered excepting Mrs. Marden who died from its effects. It is supposed that a piece of tin was in some way ground up with the corn. The balance of the meal will be subjected to chemical analysis.

The family of R.S. Marden, of Trimbelle was recently poisoned, it is supposed from eating corn meal. All the family were more or less affected, but all recovered but Mrs. Marden who died from the effects. We understand steps will be taken to ascertain the nature of the poison. Mrs. Marden was an estimable lady and greatly missed by her friends.

It is now ascertained that Mrs. R.S. Marden died of "Rough on Rats." All are getting better.1 The cause of her death was poison.1
