Eugenia Edith Truax was born on 11 September 1867, in St Albans, VT.1 Father: George Wilson Truax (b 4 Jul 1843 Montpelier, VT) - Mother: Carrie Skinner (b 20 Mar 1846 Lewis, NY).1 She was usually called Genie.1 She married Silas Henry Marden, son of Richard Silas Marden and Elizabeth Brewer, on Thursday, 27 March 1890 in Ellsworth, Pierce County, Wisconsin. Eugenia used the name Leonard after her mother married David Leonard).1 One of Henry Marden's horses dropped dead while hauling wood to the depot at Ellsworth recently. Mr. and Mrs. S.H. Marsden celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary last Sunday. There were over 40 relatives and friends who assembled to assist them in celebrating the event. Mr. and Mrs. Marsden's daughter, Mrs. Ruth Pike, and her two sons of Lampson, this state, were present, but their son, Stanley, of Escadia, Ore., was unable to come. Among the out-of-town people were Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Horning of Red Wing.
On behalf of the gathering, Wallace Corman presented Mr. and Mrs. Marsden with a purse of silver. A fine dinner was served and the day was spent in visiting.1 Eugenia Edith Truax died on 21 March 1938 in Ellsworth, Pierce County, Wisconsin, at age 70.1 She was buried at Laurel Presbyterian Cemetery in Hartland, Pierce County, Wisconsin.1 Obituary handwritten by Ruth Marden Pike at the time of her mother's death. Mrs. Silas H. Marden died Monday night after an illness of a few weeks duration. Edith Eugenia, second daughter of Mrs. Carrie Leonard, was born in St. Albans, Vermont on Sept. 11, 1867. In infancy she came to Wisconsin with her family and lived on a farm near Elllsworth until she grew to young womanhood when she was united in marriage to Silas H. Marden who survives her. The first eighteen years of her married life were spent on their farm at Ottman's Corners. Then they moved to Shell Lake, Wisconsin and made their home in that vicinity until eight years ago when they returned to Ellsworth and purchased the farm on which they were living at the time of her death.
Two children were born to them, Stanley living at Estacada, Oregon and Mrs. Ruth Pike of Spooner, Wis. She also leaves an aged mother, Mrs. Carrie Leonard, and two sisters, Mrs. Frank Anderson and Mrs. F.L. Schofield, all of Ellsworth.1
