     Roswell Bemis was born on 9 June 1813, in Paxton, MA.3,4 He married Sally Goodnow Sargent, daughter of Thomas Sargent and Mary Goodnow, on Wednesday, 25 March 1835 in Barre, MA.1,5 Roswell Bemis was a farmer and harness maker.4 He died on 18 January 1888 in Rutland, MA, at age 74.4 The cause of his death was paralysis.4
