     John Batchelder Manley was born on 27 January 1839, in Dorset, Vermont.1,2 His father Thomas died on 18 August 1843 in Toledo, Ohio, at age 33.2 It seems as though John's parents, Thomas & Mahalis, moved to Ohio and he didn't go with them. Perhpas they were going to send for him when they got settled; however, his father died. He was brought up by his aunt and uncle, Edmund and Esther Manley in Dorset, Vermont.3 His mother Mahalia died on 12 July 1865..2 John Batchelder Manley married Ellen Biscoe Lord on Saturday, 23 April 1870 in Granville, NY.2 John Batchelder Manley was a farmer.4 He died on 13 September 1912 in Dorset, Vermont, at age 73.4
