John Smith was born say 1617.1 John immigrated in 1639 to New Haven, CT, He is presumed to have been one of the families to sail with Rev. John Davenport - however he was prevented, so he came later. He sailed direct to New Haven in 1639. He married Grace Hawley, daughter of Samuel Hawley, in 1642. John Smith died in 1684. Inventory of his estate was taken. The property left at his death: 513 pounds, 3.9 - he must have come from a wealthy English family.
