His wife Mary died in 1691 leaving him a widower.3 Samuel Hawley married Patience Nichols, daughter of Isaac Nichols and Margaret Washbarn, on Friday, 2 March 1691.4,2 Samuel Hawley died on 24 August 1734 in Stratford, CT. He was buried at the Old Cemetery in Stratford, CT.2
