     Isaac Nichols was baptized on 27 December 1617 in Sedgeberrow, Worcestershire, England.2 Isaac came to America with his father and settled in Stratford, CT in 1639.3 He married Margaret Washbarn in May 1646 in Stratford, CT.2,1 Isaac Nichols was a merchant, engaged in soap boiling.3 He was a leading merchant of Stratford from 1650 to 1680.3 He was a deputy from Stratford to the Connecticut Legislature in May 1662 and Oct 1664.1 He was a representative to the General Court.3 In 1678 Isaac moved to Derby, CT.4 He left a will dated 28 September 1694. The will was proved 5 Nov 1694. It mentions wife Margaret (Savage) / Margery (Jacobus); son Benjamin; children of daughter Mary Chauncey; daughter Sarah Burritt; children of son Isaac deceased; children of son Jonathan deceased; children of son Ephraim; daughters Patience, Temperance, Elizabeth Webb, Margery. Son Josiah had died in 1691, leaving a widow but no children; the children of the other deceased sons were each willed only a small legacy, because the father of each had already received his portion.1 He died in 1695 in Stratford, CT.3 Inventory of his estate was taken in September 1695.1
     A Bible owned by Isaac Nichols is in the Boothe Memorial Park and Museum in Stratford, CT (2012).
