     Gideon Smith was born on 13 June 1709, in Milford, CT.1 He married Sarah Benedict, daughter of James Benedict and Sarah Hyatt, on Sunday, 9 December 1731 in Ridgefield, CT.1 Gideon and Sarah had seven children.2 Gideon Smith died on 7 February 1799 in Ridgefield, CT, at age 89.1
