Eli Rockwell was born on 20 April 1805, in Ridgebury, CT. He married Adelia Ann Smith, daughter of Elias Smith and Eunice Coley, on Sunday, 28 December 1828. Eli Rockwell was a farmer. His wife Adelia died on 10 November 1839 in Ridgebury, CT, at age 32 leaving him a widower. Eli Rockwell married Sarah Ann Hanford after December 1839.1 The Ridgefield Town Records show that Eli Rockwell was chosen Selectman at the annual meetings of 1843 and 1844, and again from 1848 through 1850 (the last year I copied). At the same time, the Ridgebury church records show that Eli served as clerk and treasurer from June of 1850 until his death.2 Eli Rockwell died on 25 August 1857 in Ridgebury, CT, at age 52.
