Joseph Burditt was born on 3 February 1801, in Putney, Vermont.1 He was in the military on 4 May 1829 in Fort Gratiot, Michigan, 2nd US Infantry Company B. He deserted 13 May 1829, captured 14 May, then deserted in May 1830. He then re-enlisted.1 Blue eyes, light hair, light complexion, 5'10" tall.1 He was a seaman.2 He was a farmer.3 He died in 1878.1 He was buried at the West Hill Cemetery in Putney, Vermont.1
