Ziegler Sargent was born on 10 December 1881. He graduated from Yale University in New Haven, CT, in 1903 with a BA in manufacturing (business).1 He was employed by Sargent & Company in New Haven, CT, as a treasurer for many years.2 Ziegler lived in New Haven, CT, at 247 Church St.3 He married Agnes Woolsey Bacon on Thursday, 9 July 1931. Ziegler and Agnes published a monthly 4 page journal about the Sargent family and all the relatives. He started this in 1943, as a way for the family to know about the servicemen who were serving in WW II. He had received, and subsequently quoted, many letters from Sargents overseas. Birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, all were mentioned - although the year was not printed for women over the age of 21. He also had become interested in researching the ancestors of Joseph B Sargent and Elizabeth Collier Lewis (his grandparents). Every issue would contain stories about the ancestors. They started the paper and published it until he died in 1955.2 He went back to school after he retired from Sargent & Co to study history. He used to ride to class on his bicycle, dressed in a suit and hat.2 Ziegler Sargent graduated from Yale University in New Haven, CT, with a Masters Degree in History, specializing in genealogy.2 He died on 12 October 1955 at age 73, and was buried at Evergreen Cemetery in New Haven, CT.4 An obituary was published in the New Haven Register, in New Haven, CT, on 13 October 1955.5 To view the notice, please click here. Dates using 'say' are educated guesses by me.
If I don't know a female last name she will be identified with a 'Mrs' and her husband's name.
MALE or FEMALE means I don't know the first name.
