     Joseph Sargent was born on 24 July 1756, in Leicester, MA. He married Mary Denny, daughter of Thomas Denny and Mary Chaplin, on Tuesday, 6 May 1783 in Leicester, MA.1 Joseph Sargent was a storekeeper. Joseph had a combined one storey store and dwelling house on what later became a part of Leicester Common, which stood west of the house in which Dr. Austin Flint lived. He died on 12 March 1787 in Leicester, MA, at age 30.1
