Jonathan Sargent was born on 17 April 1677, in Malden, MA. He married Mary Lynde, daughter of John Lynde and Mary Pierce, on Saturday, 13 March 1699/0 in Malden, MA.1 Jonathan Sargent married Mary Sprague, daughter of Jonathan Sprague and Mary Bunker, on Friday, 26 November 1717. Jonathan was selectman in Malden for three years.2 He was a representative to the Massachusetts General Court from 1725-1730. When Jonathan was in the Legislature he voted with many leaders against the Explanatory Charter of 1725.2 In 1735 he gave a quarter of an acre of land "in the southerly part of Malden," "being part of my homestead whereon now I dwell" with a road twenty-six feet wide to the highway, to the "Inhabitants of the southerly part of Malden for a Meeting House." Jonathan Sargent died on 27 October 1754 in Mansfield, CT, at age 77.1
