     Charles Forbes was born on 10 April 1827, in New Haven, CT. He married Mary Archer Alford, daughter of Landy Alford and Sarah Duke, on Monday, 1 September 1851 in Solano County, CA, They were married by a Justice of the Peace in Benicia.1,2,3 Charles Forbes was a trader in Suisun, CA.4 Mary died on 28 January 1866 in Brooklyn, NY, leaving him a widower at age 38. Charles Forbes was a shipping merchant.5 He married Mary A Williams say 1875.6,7 Charles Forbes was a lumber merchant.8 He died on 18 April 1895 at 409 West 146th St in New York City, NY, at age 68.9 The cause of his death was (kidney disease).10 He was buried on 21 April 1895 at the Grove Street Cemetery in New Haven, CT.11 He did not leave a will. His widow became administrator of the estate, which she said was not more than $600.12
