     Auguste Philippe Montant was born on 4 April 1856, in Paris, France.1,2 Auguste immigrated in 1862.1 Auguste appeared on the 1880 census with his mother Elisa, age 55, brother Alphonse age 29 an auctioneer, brother Jules age 27 a clerk, Auguste, age 24, a clerk, and Charles age 23, a clerk. They were all born in France. They lived at 49 West 20th street. Also enumerated were Isabel Palmiere age 35, a friend and Adeline Brady age 41, a friend. Also 6 servants.3 As of 1880 Auguste lived in New York City, NY, at 49 West 20th Street.3 He married Hannah Maria Townsend, daughter of Edward Mitchell Townsend and Belinda Rockwell, on Monday, 5 November 1883 in 19 East 22 St, New York City, NY, They were married by the Rev Ducey.4,2,5 Auguste Philippe Montant was Merchant - dry goods.1 He died before 1928.
