John Southmayd was born on 23 August 1676, in Waterbury, CT. He graduated from Harvard College in Cambridge, MA, in 1697. John lived in Middletown, CT. He married Susannah Ward, daughter of William Ward and Phebe Fenner, say 1699.1 John Southmayd was a minister. He was pastor of the First Church at Waterbury 1705-1740, a town clerk 1721-1755, a Justice of the Peace 1740-1750 and a representative from 1740-44, 1754. He died on 14 November 1755 at age 79.
