Thomas John Davies was born in November 1767, in Washington, CT, at Davies Hollow. Thomas received a rather better education from his grandfather. He married Ruth Foote, daughter of John Foote and Mary Peck, say 1794.1 Thomas lived in Washington, CT. He made a home in Davies Hollow and was a devoted member of St John's Episcopal church - in 1796 he was elected to office of chorister. 1798 he lost his money and moved to NY. He bought 600 acres of land on the shores of Black Lake, about 9 miles from Ogdensburg. In 1800 he brought his family and by 1801 they were living in their house. He was made sheriff of St Lawrence County for 10 years, and was also a county judge. He was respected by all as a benevolent and public-spirited citizen. In 1801 Thomas moved to Ogdensburg, NY. He died on 18 April 1845 in Black Lake, St Lawrence County, NY, at age 77.
