Jacob Sargent was born on 18 February 1759, in Malden, MA.1,2 He and Ezra Sargent were in the military on 19 April 1775 serving in Captain Benjamin Blaney's Company of Militia. On that day they marched on the alarm to Watertown by order of Col. Gardner. The brothers served one day.3,4 Jacob Sargent married Lydia Paine on Tuesday, 10 April 1781 in Malden, MA.1,3 In 1782 Jacob and Lydia moved to Fitzwilliam, NH, where they lived the rest of their lives.1,3 Jacob Sargent was the surveyor of the town of Fitzwilliam when it was granted by Givernor Chute as Cheshire, and was moderator, town treasurer and member of the committee which built its church and school. Jacob was one of the leading settlers in Fitzwilliam.3 1804 Jacob's father Ezra deeded him land in Cheshire County. (this date seems incorrect - the year of his death).4 He died on 9 April 1804 in Fitzwilliam, NH, at age 45.1,3
