Phil Proctor Hoggard, age 86, died on December 21, 2003 in Kent, Washington. He was born on November 23, 1917 in American Fork, Utah, to Ernest Hoggard and Mattie Proctor. Phil was raised in American Fork and later graduated from American Fork High School and attended Utah State University until he was drafted for World War II in March of 1942.

Phil was an airplane mechanic and sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Corps 410 Bombardment Squadron, 94th Bombardment Group that flew B-17's and saw action from the beginning to end of the war throughout Europe and North Africa. Phil was an excellent carpenter and built the family's home in Pleasant Grove and later in Renton, Washington, and a cabin in the Cascade Mountains. He worked 30 years at the Boeing Commercial Airplane Company and loved his work. He helped build full-scale mock-ups of the airplanes used to work out design details before the first airplane was assembled for the Boeing 707, 727, 737, 747 and the Supersonic Transport. Phil also loved working with wood and being involved with the Boy Scouts. He received numerous honors as a scout leader.

Phil is survived by his wife, Bernice Monson Hoggard, living in Renton, Washington; a son, Calvin Hoggard, of Renton, Washington; daughters: Carolyn McKean, of Bountiful, Utah; Janette Ross, of Carson City, Nevada; and Betty Miller, of Auburn, Washington; 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; also a sister, Erma Parkes, of Troy, New York; and brother, Max Hoggard, of American Fork. Phil was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Meryle DeLude; brother, Ralph Hoggard; and daughter, Joann Dyer. Phil will be greatly missed.

Funeral services for Phil will be held on Monday, December 29, 2003, at 11:00 a.m., at the Warenski Funeral Home Chapel, 1776 North 900 East, American Fork, Utah (located four blocks north of the Mt. Timpanogos Temple). Friends and family may call Sunday evening, December 28, 2003 from 6-8 p.m. at the Warenski Funeral Home and Monday morning from 10:00-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment for Phil will take place in the American Fork City Cemetery.2

Max Hoggard, age 84, passed away peacefully at his home in Lehi, Utah on March 4, 2004, surrounded by his loving family and sweet wife Inez. He was born October 5, 1919 in American Fork, Utah, a son of Ernest Eldredge and Martha (Mattie) Proctor Hoggard.
He graduated from American Fork High School in the class of 1938, and was All-State in both basketball and football and was Captain of the basketball team in 1937 and 38. He attended Utah State University at Logan, Utah from 1938 to 1941 where he played on the Utah State Basketball team.

Max was inducted into the United States Army Air Force on May 1, 1942. During World War II he served in the 12th Air Force in the European Theater of Operations in North Africa, Italy and Yugoslavia and was active in the invasion of Southern France as a Flight Engineer on a B-26 bomber. He was authorized five bronze Battle Stars for his participation in the PO Valley, North Apennines, Rome-Arno, Southern France and Air Offensive Balkans Campaigns. He also was awarded the European-African Middle Eastern Theater Medal. He received an Honorable Discharge on June 3, 1945 after two and one-half years overseas.

He married Kathryn Holindrake on June 1, 1941 in the Salt Lake Temple. They were later divorced in 1957. One son, Bruce Max was born to this marriage. Max married Inez May (Chambers) Wolf on March 21, 1965. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on May 20, 1976. The children, Christina Lynn Wolf, Sheila May Wolf, and Sheldon G Wolf were sealed to them.

Max began his employment as a Clerk -Carrier in the American Fork Post Office, American Fork, Utah, under Postmaster D. Grant Ingersoll in 1945 and was appointed Assistant Postmaster in 1961 under Postmaster G. Easton Brown. During the 1950's and 60's he was Secretary for the United States Civil Service as American Fork was the Information and Examining Center for Utah County. Max administered all Civil Service examinations for all Government positions in the area as well as placements at the Army and Naval Academies. He retired from the Postal Service in 1979 after 37 years of service which included military service. He was a member of the American Legion and served as the first Commander of the V.F.W. in American Fork. He has been a member of the VFW Honor Guard, District 4, for several years and enjoyed his participation in honoring deceased veterans with a military service. In addition he was a member of the American Fork Junior Chamber of Commerce and the American Fork Riding Club.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints church and served for several years as President of the Sunday School in the Second Ward in American Fork. He also served in the sports program of the MIA and as Secretary of the High Priests. He served two missions at the Lindoa Bishops' Storehouse in Lindon, Utah in 1994-95 and 2002-2003, he also served as a volunteer for many months. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and working on his farm in American Fork.

Max is survived by his wife, Inez of Lehi, Utah; son, Bruce Max (Terree Hullinger) Hoggard of American Fork, Utah; daughter, Sheila May Wolf of Sandy, Utah; son, Sheldon Gail (Lou Ann Ipson) Wolf of Springville, Utah; and nine grandchildren. He is preceded in death by one daughter, Christina Lynn Wolf and one grandson, Steven Gail Wolf.

Funeral services for Max were held on Tuesday, March 9, 2004, in the Lehi North Lake Ward Chapel. Interment for Max took place immediately following his funeral service at the American Fork City Cemetery located at 600 North Center Street American Fork, Utah, where Military Burial Honors were performed by Max's friends and comrades, the Members of VFW District No, 4. Funeral arrangements were conducted under the direction of Warenski Funeral Home, American Fork, Utah.1

Shirley Hoggard Bennett, age 75, passed away July 13, 2011 in Cedar Hills, UT. Born June 13, 1936 to Ralph Ernest and Lillian Russon Hoggard in Lehi, Utah. She married Richard LaMonte Bennett March 28, 1957 in the LDS Salt Lake Temple. He passed away January 2, 2006.

She was an avid BYU fan, a registered nurse, and loved Hawaii. Served as Secretary PTA, Chaperone for Band and Clear Creek and numerous school activities. She loved family outings and camping. Shirley supported her grandchildren in all their activities and was a great cook.

She is survived by Kevin Richard (Tina) Bennett, LaVerkin, UT; Brett Ralph (Maren) Bennett, Maple Valley, WA ; Cindy Diane (Stephen) Parker , American Fork; 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; 1 brother Ernest (Charlotte) Hoggard, American Fork; and 1 sister Karma Ann (Jay) Schoonover, Logan.

Preceded in death by her husband, parents, and granddaughter Jody Bennett.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 16, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the American Fork 5th Ward, 380 South 300 East.

Friends may call Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Anderson & Sons Mortuary, 49 East 100 North and Saturday from 9:30-10:45 a.m. at the church prior to the services.

Burial in American Fork Cemetery.

Karma Ann Schoonover , 77 years old, returned home to her Heavenly Father on Dec. 22, surrounded by her family after many years of struggling with health problems. She was born in Lehi, Utah, to Ralph and Lillian Hoggard. She was raised in American Fork, Utah, and graduated from American Fork High School.

She met the love of her life, Eldon Jay Schoonover, in the late summer of 1957. They were married Aug. 22, 1958, in American Fork. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple on Nov. 10, 1964. They have celebrated more than 59 happy years of marriage. Her husband thought she was the most beautiful person in the world and will miss her terribly. They have five children, Dennis (Lisa) Schoonover of Lehi, Wendy (Kevin) Kelley of Green River, WY, Suzanne (Roger) Merrill of Lehi, Steven (Sandy) Schoonover of Lehi, and Vicki (Jason) Godfrey of Nibley. They have 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

She dedicated her life to raising her family and worked for the sheriff of Cache County as a secretary. She faithfully served in numerous callings in the church including serving as a missionary for the LDS Church to Nauvoo during the reconstruction of the temple, which was a major highlight in her life. After retirement, she and her husband traveled south in the winter and went camping during the summer. She spent her retirement surrounded by her children and grandchildren whom she spoiled.

She is preceded in death by her parents and sister Shirley, and is survived by her brother Ernest Hoggard of American Fork, Utah. The mortuary services are under the direction of Nelson Funeral Home. There will be a viewing held at the funeral home, located at 162 E. 400 North, Logan, UT 84321, on Thursday, Dec. 28, from 6 to 8 p.m. The viewing and funeral services will be held Friday, Dec. 29, at the Lundstrom Park 1st Ward church house at 1260 N. 1600 East, Logan, Utah 84341. The Viewing will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., with funeral services following at 11 a.m. Following the services, the interment will be held at the Logan City Cemetery. Richard LaMonte Bennett
November 8, 1929 – January 2, 2006

Richard LaMonte Bennett, beloved husband, father and grandfather, suffered a fatal heart attack on Jan. 2, 2006. He was born Nov. 8, 1929 in Lehi, Utah, to Clifford Crosby and Dorothy Carr Bennett. He married Shirley Hoggard in the Salt Lake Temple on March 28, 1957.

Dick served in the Navy and was awarded several medals before his honorable discharge in 1952. He enlisted in the Naval Reserve in 1963 and was honored as the Outstanding Seabee of B Company and of the MCB-2 Battalion in 1969. He retired in 1979. Dick was a master electrician and retired from Geneva Steel.

He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a mission to Japan and could still speak the language. He faithfully fulfilled many church callings, but the one that was dearest to his heart was that of a home teacher. Dick will be remembered by family and friends for his ever-present tool box and ability to fix anything, for his extensive food storage jokingly called the "Bennett Store," and for his willingness to serve his fellowman. He loved his family, and though he will be missed, his influence will live on. How grateful we are for his legacy of love and service, and for the great privilege of having known him.

He is survived by his wife and children, Kevin Bennett, Brett Bennett and Cindy Walker, 11 grandchildren, three sisters and six brothers. He is preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and a granddaughter.

Funeral services will be at 12:00 noon Saturday, Jan. 7, 2006 in the American Fork 5th Ward Chapel, 381 South 300 East. Friends may call at the Anderson & Sons Mortuary, 49 E 100 N, American Fork, Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and at the church Saturday from 10:45 to 11:45 am. Interment, American Fork Cemetery where the VFW District 4 will have Military Rites.
