Obituary from familysearch.org:

Culbert Roy Howes, 82, a resident of Idaho Falls since 1952, died Saturday at a Los Angeles, California hospital. He suffered a stroke, March 9, while he and his wife were visiting a daughter in Orange, California. He and Mrs. Howes were spending the winter with their children in Nevada and California.

He was born January 21, 1885, in Lehi, Utah, the son of Henry Howes and Sarah Rhodes Howes. He married Leah LaRene Hoggard, June 1, 1908 at Provo. They lived for two years at Magrath, Alberta, Canada where he and his father were engaged in farming. They later moved to east of Teton, just west of where Newdale is now located and continued farming. About 1930 Mr. Howes was employed by the railroad where he worked until his retirement in 1950. They then moved to Idaho Falls.

He was a lover of the out-of-doors and fishing and camping were his greatest pleasures. He also took great pride in his garden and yard. He was said to be willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed his help. He was a member of the LDS Church and of the Idaho Falls Second Ward.

He is survived by his wife, three sons and three daughters: Roy Howes, Idaho Falls; Mrs. Warren (LaRene) Weinert, Encino, California; Boyd Howes, Pocatello; Mrs. Art (Lyle) Chapman, Orange, California; Garth Howes, Las Vegas, Nevada; and Mrs. Bill (Judy) Isley, Pocatello. A son and daughter preceded him in death.
He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Clarence Howes, Spokane, Washington; Wilson Howes, Provo; and Arch Howes, Magrath, Alberta, Canada.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at Wood Chapel of the Pines at Idaho Falls. Interment will be in the Teton Cemetery.1

Jewell Donetta "JD" Isley, 88, of Boise, Idaho, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 11, 2014.

JD was born on July 19, 1926 in the "Old Hotel" in Newdale, Idaho, cherished youngest child of Culbert and Leah Howes. She grew up surrounded by five older siblings and had fond memories of fishing and ice-skating on the creek in Dubois. She married Clint Green, but they later divorced. On June 21, 1947 she married Bill Isley, of Salmon, Idaho. Bill worked for State Farm Insurance and as he was promoted, the family moved to Twin Falls and then Pocatello.

After she graduated from high school, JD attended he University of Idaho Southern Branch in Pocatello, but left school to help with the war effort working at Boeing in Seattle. Education was a life-long passion, and she never missed an opportunity to learn new things, whether learning to fly an airplane, or designing and remodeling homes. She graduated from Idaho State University in 1968, and later did graduate work at ISU and University of Oregon's School of Journalism. She was a witty and talented writer.

Over her career, she worked for the US Forest Service; KWIK Radio, Pebble Creek Ski Area, and the Community Library in Ketchum. She was the Director of the Blaine County Senior Center for many years, where she spear-headed the fund-raising campaign to build a large addition so more seniors could be served. In her 60's she survived breast cancer and to help others, participated in screening trials for the National Cancer Institute. JD loved to hop in her car and take trips to Arizona and California to visit family and friends. Duplicate Bridge was her passion. She earned her Silver Life Master designation in the American Contract Bridge League. JD was also a member of the Mayflower Society, descended from John Howland.

JD volunteered her time to many organizations over the years, including nine years at the Idaho Elks Rehab in Boise. She was a voracious reader, and read between 17 and 102 books a year. This fact is known because she was also a voracious record-keeper.

Her ashes will be scattered in family plots in Salmon, and in Teton-Newdale, her birth-place and where her family has been waiting patiently for her return.

JD was able to remain in her home, with the help of Laura Brady, and the St. Luke's Hospice team. The family has no words to adequately describe our complete gratitude for their service.

About death, Mom would say, "You see birds flying in the sky and as they travel further and further away they seem to disappear. But they are still there. They are there, flying somewhere, and as we say 'They are gone,' someone in a distant land is saying, 'They have arrived!' And that is what death seems to me."1

Obituary Notice

An obituary was published

Dec. 19, 1934 - Dec. 11, 2017

Bonnie, 82, went to her heavenly home under the care of Arizona Best Hospice in Yuma, Arizona, surrounded by her loved ones.

She was born, the second of five siblings, on a cold December day to William Orden and Dora LaRue Winder in Idaho Falls, Idaho. On Feb. 18, 1955, she married the love of her life, Keith L. Howes. Together they raised five children: Sidney Rutkoski, of Bay City, Texas; Jodi (Ron) Coventry, of Shelbyville, Illinois; Steve Howes, of Idaho Falls, Idaho; Peggy (Tony) Shiffer, of Idaho Falls, Idaho; and Forde Howes, of Idaho Falls, Idaho.

She is survived by her husband, Keith, and all her children, along with 16 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sister, Rita (Jack) Ruppe, of Vernal, Utah; brother, Orden Winder, of Idaho Falls, Idaho; and brother, Dee (Nancy) Winder, of Salt Lake City, Utah. She was preceded in death by her parents; an older sister, Lola Neff; grandson, Jeremy Shiffer; son-in-law, Mark Rutkoski; and her beloved sister-in-law, Sandra Winder. She was a very dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, sibling and friend.

Throughout her life, she enjoyed working at and learning new opportunities and skills. She was employed at many different jobs: grocery store clerk, waitress, motel manager, bank administrator, hospital health caregiver and school bus driver, to name only a few. However, the job she held closest to her heart which gave her the most gratification was being a wife, mother, grandmother, friend and homemaker.

She was an avid reader and enjoyed camping, fishing, arts and crafts, shopping, going to the movies, lunches with her friends and family, playing board games and family gatherings. She was always up for an adventure. She was a hardworking, honest, loyal and giving soul. Those who knew and loved her would describe her as feisty, strong-willed, stubborn, determined, spunky, opinionated and most of all LOVED. She was, to coin a phrase, "dynamite in a small package."

She will be greatly missed, always in our hearts and loved.

No services are planned at this time, but a memorial and celebration of life will be held in the summer of 2018 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Exact time, date and place have yet to be determined.1
